Hot water

The manual's method.

1. Put a cup under the steam wand.
2. Open the steam knob.
3. Switch to hot water (up, 3-I).
4. When you have enough, switch back to the middle and close the knob.

After use

From the manual's cleaning section.

1. Release steam through the wand for 5 seconds after each use.
2. Wipe the wand with a damp cloth straight away.
3. Clear the tip's hole with a toothpick or paper clip.
4. Knock the grounds out of the portafilter. The manual says not to leave coffee in it; if you do, run a tank of water through.
5. Brush any grounds off the shower head.
6. Empty and rinse the drip tray as it fills.
