First start-up
Fill the tank and switch on
The manual's steps.
- Check that the voltage on the nameplate matches your supply.
- Take the tank out from the side of the machine.
- Fill it with fresh water, refit it and check that the intake tube is in the water. The manual recommends water with a low mineral content.
- Plug the machine in.
- Turn the on/off switch to I. The power lamp comes on.
- Wait while the coffee temperature lamp flashes and the display counts up. The manual says nothing can be made until it stops.
Run half a tank through
The manual asks for this the first time and after a long interval, to replace the water in the circuit.
- Lock the empty portafilter into the group.
- Put a container under it.
- Press the coffee switch and let about half a tank of clean water run through. Empty the container as it fills.
Prime it through the wand
The manual calls this priming. Do it if no coffee comes out, after a period without use, after making steam, or if the tank has been emptied.
- With the machine on, open the steam knob.
- Switch to hot water (up, 3-I) and let about a cup of water run out of the wand.
- Switch hot water off and close the knob. The machine is ready.
