Gasket and shower screen
Which gasket, and when
Ascaso gives no interval for the gasket. The manual's only advice is to clean it with a damp cloth, and to call the After-sales Service if it is defective. The steps on the next two screens are general workshop practice, not a Dream method: no Dream PID write-up was found.
A retailer's tune-up kit for the older Dream suggests every 6 months. Signs it is due: leaks round the handle, or a handle that turns further than it used to.
Take the screen and gasket out
General practice for a group like this. Ascaso gives no method.
- Unplug, let the machine go cold and take the portafilter out.
- Brush the grounds off the shower screen.
- Undo the central sprayer screw (I.3511) that holds the cup-shaped screen.
- Lower the screen out of the group.
- Prise the old gasket out with a pick, working round it.
- Clean the groove and the bell with a brush and a damp cloth.
Fit the new gasket and screen
Still general practice.
- Press the new gasket evenly into the bell, the same way up as the old one.
- Hold the screen in place and refit the sprayer screw, snug.
- Lock the empty portafilter in to seat the gasket.
- Switch on, wait for the coffee temperature lamp, run water through and check for leaks round the handle.
