What is on the outside
Three toggles, three lamps, a display with a button each side, a gauge and a walnut steam knob on the right. Tap a part to see what it does.
The numbers on the buttons (22 and 23) are the manual's.
What is on the inside
Water goes from the tank to the pump, through the flowmeter and into the thermoblock, then to the group. The OPV sends surplus water back to the tank. Steam comes from the same thermoblock, run hotter, through the steam valve to the wand.
The inside here follows Ascaso's 2019 parts diagram, the newest one found. The current machine's front panel follows 2024 photos.
One thermoblock, two temperatures
The same thermoblock makes coffee and steam, at two temperatures, so there is a wait between them.
- Coffee: steam switch in the middle. Wait for the coffee temperature lamp to stop flashing.
- Steam: switch down. Wait for the steam lamp. Steam cuts out after 3 minutes of continuous use: the manual calls this a safety limit.
- Hot water: open the knob, then switch up.
- Back to coffee: wait 5 minutes, or run water through the wand until the coffee lamp stops flashing. See cool down after steaming.
