Brew pressure
Read the gauge
The manual: at the start of a shot the needle sits in the pre-infusion zone. "Anywhere within the solid grey zone" is the ideal pressure.
- Below the grey zone: the shot runs too fast. Grind finer, use more coffee or tamp harder.
- Above the grey zone: the shot runs too slow. Grind coarser, use less coffee or tamp lighter.
No manual maps the gauge to bar, and the brew pressure is not something the owner sets. A reviewer (Craft Coffee Spot) measured 14 to 15 bar on a blind basket; that is not a Breville figure. Lowering it is an owner modification inside the case: Pressure valve.
If the needle never moves, see the gauge does not move.
