Grinder gear
A stripped grinder gear
Breville's US manual: "For any maintenance other than cleaning, call Breville Consumer Support." Sage's UK guide: "Any maintenance other than cleaning should be performed by an authorised Sage service centre." Opening the case is an unauthorised repair under Breville's and Sage's warranty terms and voids the warranty (1 year in the US and Canada, 2 years in the UK, EU and Australia). Wait until it has run out. Treat this as service-centre work: the methods shown are owners' and retailers', named where they appear.
A grinder that runs noisily or not at all, after a foreign object has been ruled out (loud grinder), may have a stripped main gear. Seth Morris (owner) took out the burrs, fan and washers as in the deep clean, opened the case, laid the machine on its side, removed 4 screws holding the gear assembly and marked the housing and gear positions before separating them.
He warns the coarse-adjustment screw "is different so make sure you don't lose that one". Gear part numbers SP0100119 and SP0103055 appear only in another owner's video title; not confirmed. Complete grinder: SP0023159.
