Group collar screws

Loose group collar screws

Breville's US manual: "For any maintenance other than cleaning, call Breville Consumer Support." Sage's UK guide: "Any maintenance other than cleaning should be performed by an authorised Sage service centre." Opening the case is an unauthorised repair under Breville's and Sage's warranty terms and voids the warranty (1 year in the US and Canada, 2 years in the UK, EU and Australia). Wait until it has run out. Treat this as service-centre work: the methods shown are owners' and retailers', named where they appear.

Owners describe a seal that keeps leaking or blowing out although it is new, and a portafilter that turns too far right easily (Waleed, 2025; Home-Barista, 2026). The cause they found: some of the 5 screws holding the group collar had worked loose. Waleed links it to machines bought 2019 to 2022 and refits them with threadlocker.

Access needs the steam wand assembly out and its bracket pivoted aside (a Home-Barista member). A member also warns that tightening only some of the screws without threadlocker lets it come back.
