Thermocoil

The thermocoil

Breville's US manual: "For any maintenance other than cleaning, call Breville Consumer Support." Sage's UK guide: "Any maintenance other than cleaning should be performed by an authorised Sage service centre." Opening the case is an unauthorised repair under Breville's and Sage's warranty terms and voids the warranty (1 year in the US and Canada, 2 years in the UK, EU and Australia). Wait until it has run out. Treat this as service-centre work: the methods shown are owners' and retailers', named where they appear.

The machine has no boiler: a stainless steel coil heats the water on its way through (the 2012 US book). Scale is the usual enemy. Tom's Coffee Corner (owner, 2024) traced "no water at the group" to a thermocoil outlet "completely white" with scale. He removed the probe, earth and connections and the fixings either side, cleared it by hand, refitted with thermal paste and a new O-ring, then ran Descale mode.

Run a descale first: the manual lists descaling for "no water from the group head". Fuse ratings and fixing sizes are not published.
