Water in the tray, not the cup

Water goes to the tray, not the cup, with buzzing

Normal (the manual): the machine purges water into the tray after every shot, hot water and steaming, so the tray fills quickly.

Not normal: loud buzzing when you press 1 CUP or 2 CUP, with water going to the tray instead of the cup. Owners trace this to a sticking three-way valve (LAI, Aju's Cafe, R Brown).
