Weak or spitting steam
The manual's causes: not yet hot (the light flashes and some water spits, which is normal), the tank empty or not seated, scale, a blocked tip, or the dial not fully at steam.
- Wait for the light to stop flashing.
- Clear the tip with the pin, or unscrew and soak it.
- Descale.
- Strong steam that dies down and sputters: Caffeine Fix (technician) cured it with a new three-way valve.
