Weekly soak

Soak the baskets and portafilter

The manual's method for blocked baskets. Breville does not make this weekly; do it when the holes look blocked.

1. Clear blocked holes with the pin on the cleaning tool.
2. Dissolve a cleaning tablet (now a sachet of Sage's powder) in water in a jug or bowl if they are still blocked.
3. Soak the basket and the portafilter's metal end for about 20 minutes.
4. Rinse them thoroughly under the tap.

Wash the drip tray, storage tray and tank

The manual's cleaning steps.

1. Pull out the drip tray and lift off the grate.
2. Lift out the grey coffee grind separator and tip away the grounds.
3. Pull the Empty Me! float straight up to release its side latches.
4. Wash the tray, grate, separator and float in warm soapy water.
5. Wipe the storage tray behind it with a damp cloth.
6. Empty the tank, rinse it and refill with fresh cold water: the US manual says replace the water daily.

Wipe the body and cup tray with a soft damp cloth and polish dry. No abrasive cleaners.
