Owner modifications

The 51 mm basket, and the popular mods

None of these are De'Longhi methods, and changes to the machine void the warranty (US manual). They are listed because owners ask.

The basket: the supplied filters are pressurised. Owners and sellers size the holder at 51 mm; De'Longhi gives no size. HomeBaristaMods: a non-pressurised basket "changes the job of the grinder": grind and puck preparation then control the shot.
Bottomless portafilter: 51 mm, three ears, sold for EC680, EC685 and EC885 (Tom's Coffee Corner adds a non-pressurised basket, a 51 mm tamper and a scale, in that order).
Rancilio Silvia wand swap: Faulds (EC680, 2016) and Tom's Coffee Corner (EC680 and EC685, 2021) fit a Silvia steam wand in place of the frother pipe; Faulds widens a cut-out in the inner frame. That is case-open work.
EC885 wand: Tom's Coffee Corner (2024) fits the Dedica Arte wand AS00002707 with the EC885 steam valve, an O-ring and a clip.
