First start-up
Before you switch on
The manual's checks and tank filling, with one step from Clive Coffee.
- Look under the machine for shipping wing nuts and take them out (Clive Coffee: some batches have two; left in, the pump rattles). The manual does not mention them.
- Check the machine is off (green lamp not lit) and the plug is out.
- Check the drip tray is in and both joysticks are closed, on a level, water-resistant surface.
- Open the cup warming tray.
- Lift out the tank, rinse it well and fill it with soft water (what water).
- Put it back in its guides and close the tray.
Fill mode and the first heat-up
The manual's steps, on the tank.
- Plug in and switch on. The green lamp lights and the display shows "Fill".
- Put a small jug under the group.
- Lift the brew lever and let water run for at least 30 seconds, until it flows from the group.
- Lower the lever. "Fill" should go from the display.
- Wait while the steam boiler fills by itself. When the pump goes quiet it is done; refill the tank if it runs low and the machine shuts off.
- Before the first coffee, rinse 2 to 3 tanks of water through the group and the hot-water wand.
The machine heats the coffee boiler and group first, then the steam boiler. The group is hot in about 6 to 7 minutes.
Running it on mains water
The manual says installation should be done by a qualified specialist. Its steps:
- Have a pressure regulator and an accessible shut-off valve on the supply, set to 1 to 2 bar.
- Connect the supplied metal hose to the nozzle in the rear of the base plate.
- Turn the rotary valve under the machine away from the connection nozzle.
- In the menu, set Advanced User Settings to ON, then Tank Mode to OFF (advanced settings).
- Do the Fill mode as for the tank.
- Rinse 5 to 8 litres through the group and the hot-water wand before the first coffee.
Close the shut-off valve whenever the machine is not in use, unless you use the timer. To go back to the tank: valve towards the nozzle, Tank Mode ON.
