Joystick valves
Two joystick valves
ECM's manual says any repair or change of components must be carried out by an authorised specialist dealer, using only original spare parts; otherwise ECM accepts no liability. Treat this as dealer work.
Both wands are fed by the same ECM valve (P6070), sealed by a Teflon gasket (P6015) and worked by a quick-steam lever. Clive Coffee's sign of a worn seal: a hot-water tap that leaks, or a steam wand that will not give steam. A leak where the valve body meets the front panel is the valve body's O-ring instead.
Clive's seal method for the original Synchronika is on the next screen.
Replace a joystick seal
Clive Coffee's method, for the original Synchronika.
- Take the top and side panels off.
- Remove the support bracket or brackets (2.5 or 3 mm Allen).
- Undo the 17 mm compression fitting on the copper delivery tube.
- Undo the 17 mm nut holding the valve to the frame and take the valve out.
- Put a 6 mm Allen key into the back of the valve-body cap and remove the stainless fitting.
- Take out the brass piece and rubber seal, keeping the spring. Clean or replace, and rebuild in reverse.
