Drain it before storage or frost

Gaggia's manual gives no draining method. Water left in the boiler can freeze and crack it, so the retailer Whole Latte Love drains the machine like this before storing or shipping it.

1. Take out the tank, the drip tray and the filter holder.
2. Unscrew the steam nozzle and push a length of hose over the wand.
3. Turn the machine upside down beside the sink, with the hose in the sink.
4. Open the steam knob and switch on all three buttons.
5. When the water stops, switch all three buttons off at once.

When you bring it back into use after more than 2 weeks, the manual says to flush a tank through the wand and a tank through the group.
