Dial in, and steady the heat
The E24 has thermostats, not a temperature setting, so steady heat comes from routine.
- Under 25 seconds, thin or sour: grind finer.
- Over 30 seconds, bitter: grind coarser.
- After a 15-minute warm-up, flush 7 to 8 seconds of water through the group before the first shot.
- Then wait for the coffee temperature light, as the manual says, before you press brew.
- Leave 1.5 to 2 minutes between shots.
Steps 3 and 5 are Kaffeemacher's, from testing an EU E24: they evened out a first shot that ran hot. Owners call this "temperature surfing".
