First start-up
Fill the tank and switch on
These are the manual's steps.
- Remove the tank lid and fill the tank with cold water to the max mark.
- Plug the lead into the back of the machine, then into the wall.
- Press the on/off button. The power light comes on.
Load the circuit
The manual calls priming "loading the circuit". It fills the boiler before the heater does any work.
- Put a cup under the group with no filter holder fitted.
- Press the brew button. The pump runs, and after a few seconds water starts to come out.
- After about 150 ml, press the brew button again to stop.
If no water comes, the manual blames an air bubble: see load the circuit through the wand.
Flush two tanks through
The manual asks for this when the machine is new, and again after more than 2 weeks unused. The water is not for drinking. Empty the container as it fills.
- Rinse and fill the tank. Put a container under the steam wand.
- Open the knob slowly, then press the brew button and the steam button.
- Run the whole tank through the wand. Press both buttons to stop and close the knob.
- Refill the tank. Fit the filter holder and put a container under it.
- Press the brew button and run the whole tank through the group. Press again to stop.
- Remove the filter holder and rinse it. The manual then calls the machine ready for use.
