Wand joint

A drip where the wand leaves the case

The wand is two tubes joined by a fork-shaped spring clip, with one O-ring at the joint and another at the top where it meets the steam valve. A drip where the wand leaves the case, mostly while brewing, is an O-ring. Gaggia's manual does not cover this, and its safety booklet says repairs are only for a service centre authorised by Gaggia. This is the retailer Whole Latte Love's method; the clip is placed by eye in this model.

  1. Unplug and let the machine go cold.
  2. Pull the fork clip out with pliers.
  3. Separate the lower tube from the upper one.
  4. Fish the old O-ring out of the socket and fit the new one. The top O-ring is reached by undoing the wand's nut, as in the steam valve job.
  5. Push the tubes together, refit the clip and check for drips while brewing.
