Water runs into the tray while brewing
The drain pipe runs while you brew
Water leaving the drain pipe when you stop a shot is normal: it is the pressure being let out. Water running from it into the tray while the shot is brewing means the three-way valve is not sealing. That is a retailer's diagnosis (Whole Latte Love).
