Descale
La Pavoni says descale, but gives no method
The manual's troubleshooting table says "Descale the machine" for coffee that is too cold and for a machine that is noisy, both from scale on the element. It gives no method, no product, no dose and no interval.
Its only advice on water is "Use cold water only", and to clean the screen with warm water and a neutral detergent "to prevent scale". It gives no hardness figure and names no filter.
A cautious approach, not La Pavoni's
This follows the shape of the manual's own first clean and rinse, with a descaler in place of bicarbonate. It is not La Pavoni's method.
- Let the pressure out and take the cap off, as in filling the boiler.
- Fill with a descaler solution mixed as its pack says, no higher than the top of the glass.
- Heat it up as in first start-up.
- Run it out through the group with the lever, and through the wand with the steam knob.
- Rinse with clean water, as in the manual's rinse: fill, heat, empty, three times.
- Finish with steam through the wand, as the rinse does.
