Heat up and vent false pressure
Heat up and let the air out
Air left in the boiler gives a "false pressure". The manual lets it out once, at every start.
- Fill the boiler to the top mark, between the bottom and top of the sight glass.
- Press the switch. It lights up to show the machine is on.
- Wait for the indicator light to go off.
- Slowly open the steam knob anticlockwise to let out the false pressure, then close it clockwise.
- The light comes back on. Wait for it to go off again.
- The machine is now at pressure and ready.
What is normal while it heats
- The light goes on and off. The manual: that is the pressurestat holding the pressure.
- A short hiss from the safety valve as it warms up. Owners put this down to the anti-vacuum part inside the valve closing. After that it should be quiet.
- When to close the knob. The anti-vacuum part closes before all the air is out, so owners still vent through the wand. One owner check: hold the tip about 3 cm under water; when the bubbles stop, the air is gone.
- The lever rises by itself as the machine cools. The manual: a vacuum is forming in the boiler.
