Safety thermostat
Reset the safety thermostat
The manual: "Remove the base mat cap and press the red button to reset the thermostat." This is the one job inside the machine it gives the owner. The thermostat cuts the power if the boiler runs out of water while on.
- Unplug the machine and let it cool.
- Open the steam knob to let any pressure out, and leave the lever down.
- Reach under the base and take the plug out of the base plate over the thermostat.
- Press the red button.
- Put the plug back.
- Stand the machine up, fill the boiler, then heat up and check it heats.
Replacing the thermostat
La Pavoni's manual says any servicing or repair, apart from normal cleaning and maintenance, must be done by an authorised service centre, and that unauthorised repairs or non-original parts void the warranty. Its service-centre list names none in the UK. The method here is from retailers and owners, as marked.
The 2025 parts list gives a manual-reset thermostat at 122 °C (5360005), on a bracket (5360006) in a bush (371105), with an M4 brass nut. Espresso Care says La Pavoni changed it from 127 °C to 122 °C in May 2024, and fits it with thermal paste. Changing it means taking the base plate off.
