The sight glass and its seals

La Pavoni's manual says any servicing or repair, apart from normal cleaning and maintenance, must be done by an authorised service centre, and that unauthorised repairs or non-original parts void the warranty. Its service-centre list names none in the UK. The method here is from retailers and owners, as marked.

The glass sits between an upper and a lower chrome fitting, each with a compression ring and a seal, under a plastic guard. A PTFE washer (362021) seals the top cap. Espresso Care renews the seals whenever the glass is disturbed.

Change the glass and seals

From a Home-Barista owner and Coffee Sensor's guide.

1. Let the machine cool, let the pressure out, and bring the water below the bottom fitting.
2. Take off the guard and unscrew the top cap.
3. Loosen both compression rings.
4. Pull the old glass out through the top hole.
5. Fit new seals and slide the new glass in.
6. Tighten the rings finger-tight plus a quarter turn (Coffee Sensor).
