Steam valve and wand seals
The steam valve, and what wears in it
La Pavoni's manual says any servicing or repair, apart from normal cleaning and maintenance, must be done by an authorised service centre, and that unauthorised repairs or non-original parts void the warranty. Its service-centre list names none in the UK. The method here is from retailers and owners, as marked. The manual itself only takes the steam pipe off, which is on the wand screen.
The stem seals with a packing (361023) and two washers (313001) under a packing nut. The valve body screws into the boiler wall with an M12 × 1 nut. A stiff knob usually means a swollen packing; a wand that drips with the knob closed means a worn packing or seat (retailer and owners).
Repack the steam valve
From Espresso Care's video notes and a Home-Barista owner.
- Unplug, let the machine cool fully and let any pressure out.
- Do not take the knob off. Unscrew the packing nut and the stem together.
- Pull them straight out.
- Fit a new packing (361023) and two new washers (313001).
- If the stem was stuck, tape the valve body and hold it with an adjustable spanner so it does not turn in the boiler.
- Refit, heat up, and check the knob turns freely and the wand does not drip.
