The steam knob is stiff, or the wand drips

Stiff or stuck. A swollen packing (retailer), or a valve over-tightened while hot (owner).
Drips with the knob closed. A worn packing or seat.
Leaks where the pipe meets the valve. The two O-rings, or the lock screw not locked: the manual says keep it locked.
