Level probe
Reseal the level probe
The most reported fault on this machine: the large nut at the level probe loosens and lets steam out. This follows a retailer's guide and owner reports. Several owners cured it by nipping the nut a quarter turn.
- Unplug, let it go cold and take the top panel off.
- Pull the blue connector off the probe.
- Unscrew the probe by its large nut, a 19 mm hex. A deep socket is easier than a spanner.
- Clean the threads and wrap them with 3 to 7 turns of PTFE tape.
- Refit it without overtightening and push the connector back on.
- Reheat with the steam wand open to purge the air, and check for leaks before closing up.
Clean the probe if the boiler overfills
If the pump runs on after a refill, the steam is wet and surging, or alarm 03 shows, the probe is not sensing the water. Owners list the causes in this order: a scaled or dirty rod, a rod sitting too high in its clamp nut, a loose connector, and rarely the control box.
- Unplug, let it go cold and take the top panel off.
- Take the probe out and clean the rod until it is bright.
- Push it back to its depth and nip the small nut.
- Check the connector at the probe and at the control box.
Owners' test: pull the wire off the probe and touch it to the boiler body. The pump should stop. If it does, the wiring and control box are fine.
