Tubes and push-fits
Reseat a weeping push-fit
Thin PTFE tubes push into elbows around both boilers. Owners fix a weep in this order, stopping when it is dry.
- Unplug, let it go cold and open the machine.
- Push the collar in, then pull the tube out.
- Push the tube fully home again.
- Still weeping: clean the tube end, add a thin smear of Vaseline and refit.
- Still weeping: cut a few millimetres off the end, square, with a sharp blade or tube cutter.
- Last, replace the fitting, with PTFE tape on its thread.
On the steam boiler's fill fitting, mark how deep the tube sits before you pull it. The factory puts a black mark on it.
