Every session

After each coffee, and at the end of the day

  1. Knock out the puck and rinse the basket.
  2. Run water from the group for 2 seconds to clear grounds off the shower screen.
  3. Once a day, brush the screen and the gasket with the pump running. Nothing comes apart for this.
  4. At the end of the day, pull the drip tray out, empty it and rinse the tray and its grate.
  5. Wash the portafilter and baskets in warm water with a little washing-up liquid.
  6. Rinse and refill the tank with fresh water, and wipe the body when it has cooled.

Refill the boiler after steaming

Do this every time you steam. Steaming empties part of the boiler and leaves it at about 130 °C. Brewing straight afterwards burns the coffee, and a low boiler exposes the heating element.

  1. Switch the steam button off.
  2. Put a cup under the group.
  3. Press the coffee button and leave it on until no more steam comes out, only water.
  4. Check the display is back at brew temperature.
