Service the expansion valve

Do this when turning the pressure screw no longer changes the gauge. The seat inside the valve has worn or has scale on it. Retailers suggest a new seat every 3 to 5 years. The method is the one published for the Pro 300, which uses the same valve.

1. Unplug, let it cool and take the top panel off.
2. Remove the retaining screw with a 2.5 mm hex key.
3. Note how far the adjusting barrel is screwed in, then unscrew it with a flat screwdriver.
4. Check the seat for warping. Clean inside the valve body, or fit a new seat.
5. Lightly grease the seals, seat and spring with food-safe grease and reassemble.
6. Set the pressure again, with the panels off, and check for leaks.
