Pump runs, no water
The pump runs but no water comes
The pump has lost its prime, usually after the tank ran empty.
- Fill the tank, take out any softener cartridge and press the tank firmly onto its valve.
- Run the pump in bursts of a few seconds. Never run it dry for longer.
- Still dry: lift the tank and look at the valve in its base. A bent or broken centre pin stops water being drawn.
- A pump that only hums quietly, with no vibration, has probably failed.
If the pump sounds loaded and the steam wand flows but the group does not, the three-way valve is stuck or blocked.
