Steam wand deep clean

Soak the steam wand

Wiping keeps the outside clean. Milk still dries inside the tip.

1. Mix a milk-system cleaner in warm water at the strength on its bottle. One brand gives 30 ml per 500 ml.
2. Swing the wand into the jug and leave it 15 to 30 minutes.
3. Rinse, then open the steam valve for a few seconds to blow it clear.
4. If steam is still weak, unscrew the tip and clear its holes with a needle.
