The right water

The importer's figure is 3 grains per gallon (about 51 ppm) or less, checked with the test strips supplied.

Filter jugs (Brita type) "do NOT remove any hardness", says the importer.
Bottled water: test it too.
No in-tank filter is supplied or mentioned; the long tubes carry small screens that stop debris only.
