Weekly backflush

Water backflush

The Silvano has a 3-way group valve, so backflushing is allowed. The importer's method:

1. Prise the normal basket out with the edge of the blind basket, then press the blind basket in.
2. Lock the portafilter in.
3. Turn the brew switch on for 15 seconds, then off.
4. Repeat 3 to 5 times. The water discharges into the right of the drip tray.

More often than weekly is fine.

Detergent backflush

The importer's method, every 1 to 2 weeks depending on use.

1. Put no more than 1/4 teaspoon of espresso machine cleaner in the blind basket.
2. Lock the portafilter in and run the brew switch on and off.
3. Repeat until the water runs clear, 5 to 10 flushes.
4. Take the portafilter out and rinse it.
5. Wipe under the group.
6. Pull 1 shot and throw it away.
