Weekly soak

Optional: soak the basket and portafilter

Neither Quick Mill nor the importer's manual gives this job. What follows is someone else's, named where it appears. A weekly soak of the basket and portafilter is general retailer practice. The importer only soaks the shower screen, in hot water and cleaner, when it is off (see the gasket job).

1. Take the basket out of the portafilter.
2. Soak the basket and the metal part of the portafilter in hot water with espresso machine cleaner, at the strength on the cleaner's label.
3. Rinse both well and refit the basket.
