Rancilio gives no descaling method

Neither the 2019 nor the 2024 manual mentions descaling. Rancilio's answer to scale is the water: the 2024 manual asks for hardness of about 5 °dKH (9 °fKH, 89 ppm), and a suitable filter if yours is harder. See water and filters.

Beyond that, sources disagree, as listed below. No retailer's step-by-step method for the Silvia was available to this guide, so none is given. If you do descale, follow the descaler's own instructions, and expect to check the three-way valve if the group's flow drops afterwards.
