Hot water, and switching off

Hot water comes from the wand, as the manual describes.

Put a cup under the wand.
Switch on the hot-water switch.
Open the tap slowly.
Close the tap at the amount you want.
Switch off the hot-water switch.
To switch off: knock out and refit the portafilter, then switch the main switch off.
