Steps marked "the manual" are from Rancilio's Silvia / Silvia E installation and user manual, 2024 edition, checked against the 2019 edition and the 2024 US edition. The manual covers start-up, brewing, hot water, steaming with a boiler refill, a detergent backflush under daily cleaning, water hardness and storage. It has no descaling, and it reserves pressure adjustment and the safety thermostat reset for a qualified technician (2019 and US editions; the 2024 EU edition drops that page and says to call technical support). Everything beyond the manual is marked where it appears as coming from Rancilio's parts catalogue, a named retailer or an owner. Nothing here was checked on a machine.

Not settled, and flagged where they appear: every cross-head screwdriver size; the shower screw's length and head; the gasket's thickness, number and which face goes up; the 17, 18, 14 and 20 mm spanner sizes, none confirmed on a V6; the factory brew pressure; the element's wattage; the steam tip's holes; what the manual's "vacuum trap" is; the start-up switch picture; how often to backflush with detergent; and whether to descale. Reddit, one UK forum and 1st-line's own site could not be opened, so owner reports for the V6 are thin. The only video that claims a V6 may show an older machine.

This guide is for the EU and UK Silvia E. The US Silvia M has a plain power switch, no timer board and no automatic switch-off, and its pump, three-way valve, element and lamp kit differ by voltage. Outside, the two look the same.

The casing is measured from Rancilio's parts diagram, an isometric drawing scaled on the 235 mm drip tray: body 226 wide and 267 deep, 339 high against Rancilio's 340. The group, wand and knob are placed from photographs; everything inside is placed by eye.
