Clean the basket and portafilter

Rancilio gives no soak and no interval. Its manual takes the basket out, cleans all the parts and rinses them in hot water to dissolve coffee oil. For detergent, it says to use one made for coffee machines and follow the instructions on the pack.

1. Take the basket out of the portafilter.
2. Rinse the basket, the portafilter and the blind disk in hot water.
3. For a deeper clean, use a coffee-machine detergent as its pack directs.
4. Rinse them in fresh water and lock the empty portafilter back in.
