What water to use

The manual's water advice:

• Hardness: 2 to 4 °dH (German degrees), which is 4 to 7 °f (French degrees). If your mains water is harder, use a softener.
• Softener bag: Rocket recommends one in the tank, replaced as its pack says (by litres).
• Filtered, not distilled. Very pure water may not conduct well enough for the sensors that read the boiler and tank levels.

Test your water with Water hardness test strips. Clive Coffee suggests filtered, soft water of 35 to 85 ppm for E61 machines in general.

Fit a softener bag

1. Lift the tank lid.
2. Put the softener bag into the tank.
3. Fill with water to the MAX mark.
4. Note when you fitted it, and change it when the litres on its pack are used.
