Water drips under the group while it heats

An owner of an older Giotto: water from the little port under the group, just above the drip tray, while the machine heats is the expansion valve letting out water as it expands, and is normal if it stops. Water from the group's drain while brewing, or a group that does not release pressure, points to the lower drain valve (owner reports for E61 groups).
