Weekly backflush

Backflush with detergent

The manual: every week, after the water backflush.

1. Do the water backflush first.
2. Put a small amount of espresso machine detergent in the blind filter.
3. Dissolve it with a little hot water.
4. Lock the portafilter in.
5. Raise the lever for about 10 seconds, then lower it. Repeat several times.
6. Rinse with plain-water backflushes until the water runs clear.

Rocket names no detergent and no amount. Seattle Coffee Gear's version for this machine: 5 to 6 cycles of 10 seconds on and 10 off, then 5 to 6 plain-water cycles.
