Soak the portafilter and baskets

The manual's soak.

1. Take the basket out of the portafilter with a small screwdriver or the edge of the blind filter.
2. Mix 2 teaspoons of espresso machine detergent in hot water.
3. Soak the baskets and the metal end of the portafilter for 10 minutes, keeping the handle out of the water.
4. Soak the shower screen and diffuser in the same solution when you have them out (gasket and shower screen).
5. Rinse everything thoroughly and refit the basket.

Wash the tank and the drip tray

The manual's steps.

1. Lift the lid and pull the tank straight up by its handle.
2. Wash it in warm soapy water and rinse it well.
3. Refill it with fresh, filtered water: not distilled.
4. Lower it in and press it firmly down, so the tap in its base fully engages.
5. Slide out the drip tray, empty it and wash it and the grid.
6. Slide it back in level until it hooks with a magnetic click.
